We(including 03 my Friends)decided to go to Gurez prior to one night . Started our journey from Srinagar in the late morning around 11:30 am. From Srinagar we went to Ganderbal then via Barsoo Manasbal then through safapora, we made entry into the Bandipora district through Saderkoot/Hajin route . At about 1:30 pm we had our lunch in the Bandipora town at Hotel Kingstar . It was 15 Aug and a single restuarant was operating that day, in view of independence day of India. Further after lunch we started journey towards Gurez . And before the mighty Razdan Pass we had tea at somewhere at local tea stall. Tea was pink type typical Kashmiri noon chai along with snacks . Had some photo shot also . Then back to the car , we started again at then stopped at Razdan Pass, again had some good shots . While coming down from Razdan towards Gurez at the last stretch the landscape beauty of Gurez valley started. We started recording the greenery of forests and the road also carved on the mountain edges . In the meantime we reached considerable down the altitude and river started moving side by side of the road . While moving forward the river turned itself into the famous Dam (Hydro-power Project) , The Kishanganga . Finally we landed in the Gurez valley- Dawar (area) at about 04 in the evening.
Had some tea again with biscuits, we actually asked the tea seller for maggie but the price was ₹70 exceptionally high . So we settled for Tea and Good day biscuits. Then night was coming over . We saw a huge no. Of already installed/operating tents, used for night stay . They were actually two types ₹2000 for one type of quecha tent and ₹5000 for a bigger one . Washroom facilities were also provided by the tent owner . And there were females also accompanying the males as local tourists along little kids present there in Dawar who actually also had booked the tents for night stay . There is beautiful river and this tent area has been built on that river bank . Hence giving more charm and at night awesome scenes. Also, at night around 10 o’clock we saw brow bear coming towards the tent area while talking with the locals , there is a legend that the bear does not harm to the tents rather the animal feeds itself on the waste generated by the tourists and lying near side .
There is also Habba khatoon waterfall present in the Dawar area which worth visiting. We had the dinner there at Gurez in local resturant. People are very humble . And chances of scam is very less. There is also a zipline for around 400 m we also enjoyed that . And finally after a night stay we departed from Gurez.
It is believed that Tulail is also worth visiting place. Even though we did not had enough time for Tulail. Worth to mention that we bathed in the river early in the morning at Gurez the water was very cold and the experience was good .
Gurez valley is a beautiful place and worth visiting. Thankyou
